The Sforza Castle in Milan

The Sforzesco Castle in Milan is one of the most important historical symbols of the city.
Built in the 15th century at the behest of Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, it stands on the remains of a previous Visconti fortification.
The architecture of the castle combines medieval and Renaissance elements, with its imposing towers, bastions and large central courtyard. Over the centuries it has been a ducal residence, barracks and today is home to numerous museums and cultural institutions.
Inside you can admire works of art by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and other great masters. The Castle is surrounded by Sempione Park, a green oasis in the heart of the city.
