The Codex Atlanticus is a collection of drawings and writings by Leonardo da Vinci, kept in 12 volumes. 22 papers are guarded at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana near the Cathedral and other 22 papers are kept inside the Bramante Sacristy, placed near the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The Biblioteca hosts it from 1637. The name “Codex Atlanticus” comes from the dimension of the pages, which are like a geographical atlas of that time. The 1119 papers testifying Leonard’s genius in the period from 1478 to 1519 are collected without a precise order.
